The New Acres Development in Wandsworth, London, is a major residential and commercial project that highlights the importance of modern building solutions, including Acoustic Underlay. Situated on the former Homebase site on Swandon Way, this development is transforming the area into a vibrant, mixed-use community. With over 1,000 new homes and more than 60,000 sq ft of commercial and retail space, the project is designed to create comfortable living and working environments, with soundproofing playing a key role in enhancing the quality of these spaces.
Starting in January 2023, SoundBase SBA19 underlay was supplied to the project through SASGO, the exclusive distributor of SoundBase products. A total of 1,500 rolls (15,000m²) of SBA19 were delivered directly to the site. The Commercial Flooring Company, the main flooring contractor, installed the underlay across the development. This product was chosen for its excellent soundproofing qualities, ensuring a high standard of acoustic performance for residents and businesses.
The New Acres project is led by Vistry Partnerships, with Legal & General as the developer. It is the second project Vistry has delivered for Legal & General in London and the third nationally. The project was designed by award-winning architect Hawkins Brown, and includes five buildings. These will house both residential and commercial spaces, with 35% of the homes being affordable. The project also includes over 15,000 sq ft of mixed-use space, with retail, office units, and a new civic square outside a proposed entrance to Wandsworth Town station.
The New Acres Development is part of Legal & General’s portfolio of Build to Rent (BTR) schemes in London. This project aims to provide modern, sustainable homes in a well-connected location.
